Nowadays, the gym has become necessary for weight loss according to some people.
Even with many benefits of gym, it is a total myth that gym is necessary for weight loss. However, it may boost weight loss.
These are the people who think that weight loss requires hours of gym or exercise which they can’t afford given such busy lives of people nowadays. But, in reality, it’s actually a very widespread myth.
And, with this misconception in people’s minds, they think that they will never be able to lose weight and lose their hope.
To get a more clear idea of this topic, first, let’s understand what does gym helps us in our health and then why it is not necessary for weight loss.
So, why gym isn’t necessary for weight loss?
People do mainly 2 things at a gym, either Cardio or Weight training.
However, cardio is a thing that people can do even outside of gyms. So it is not really a gym thing.
But, weight training is a thing that requires special equipment like dumbells, weights, benches, etc. And this equipment is available at either gym or some sports shop. Most people use these from the gym only and don’t like to buy them from some shop. So, this is the reason why people go to the gym mostly for weight training.
Now, you may be thinking that why ain’t weight training necessary for weight loss.
This is because weight loss is not just doing something specifically or eating something particularly. It is a mix of many things. But mainly, it’s about calorie deficit in which you can stay even without doing anything more than changing your daily diet.
And while weight training helps us in many things like muscle building, increased metabolism, stronger bones, improved heart health.
It is still not required.
So, weight training or going to the gym can help your weight loss process but it will not cause it in the first place. And neither it is necessary for anyone to go there even for that “help in weight loss process”.
However, if you want to be masculine and be lean side-by-side, then you should consider going to the gym.
Conclusion
I think till now you may have concluded on this topic yourself.
But before ending, I think you should know more about weight loss so that, you could easily give red flags to things which may mislead someone or even you at some point regarding weight loss.
See, doing weight loss is equal to staying in calorie deficit along with practicing some healthy habits.
So, what’s a calorie deficit? You are said to be in a calorie deficit if your net calories consumed are less than your maintenance calories.
Now you have to start by staying in 100 calorie deficit, then 200 (after you hit a weight loss plateau), and then 300. I think many would reach their goal till the time they reach 300 calorie deficit.
Now, what are the “healthy habits” I was talking about to keep in mind? They include
- Not eating unhealthy food even if you are in a deficit. ( You may eat them but make sure you’re consuming them less number of times a week)
- Make sure to have a cheat day once a week
- Make sure that you hydrate yourself properly
- Make sure to have a good quality sleep everyday
- Don’t take stress much
- Count your calories using an app like MyFitness Pal (Golden rule)
