This is the most important factor to keep in mind if you are looking to start your weight loss. But wait , you must be confused “What the hell do you mean by DRINKING CALORIES?” So first and foremost , let’s understand what actually is meant by ‘Drinking calories’.
What is meant by ‘drinking calories’?
So, drinking your calories means that you are drinking any sort of beverages which have large amounts of sugar and fats in it which literally no one WANTS!!! Perhaps if you drink such beverages frequently, then you will not only increase your weight but they will also harm you in other ways like increasing your blood sugar levels, blood pressure , bad cholesterol etc, And all these all side-effects of drinking such beverages will ultimately cause heart diseases, diabetes etc. which have their own consequences including death.
But not all beverages are harmful like home-made fruit or vegetable juices, home-made lemonade, water, tea, coffee etc.
Now, let’s see which all drinks to avoid and which to drink
TO AVOID –
- Alcohol
- Soft Drinks
- Beer
- Branded or Commercial Juices
- Branded or Commercial Smoothies
- Zero-calorie drinks
- Soda
- Fancy Coffees ( which contain mostly cream in it)
TO ENJOY!! –
- Home-made fruit juices/shakes/smoothies (which contain less sugar)
- Home-made veggie juices/smoothies
- Home-made lemonade
- Tea
- Coffee (like espresso, cappuccino etc.)
- Water
- Hot Chocolate
CONCLUSION –
Now, let’s answer our question of whether or not we should drink our calories . Well the answer is YES and NO.
See, if you are drinking the beverages I mentioned in in my ‘TO AVOID’ list twice or thrice in a month and if with these calories you don’t exceed your maintenance calories, then it is OK. But I would recommend you to avoid them as mush as you can as they are very harmful to your health. But if you are drinking them on a regular basis, then that is a big NO-NO.
And if you are drinking the beverages I mentioned in my ‘ TO ENJOY ‘ list, you can drink them at least 4-5 times a week. But HEY! Don’t think you also have to drink water 4-5 times a week. YOU HAVE TO DRINK WATER EVERYDAY!! It’s so obvious.
