Have you ever met with people who skip their breakfasts? To be honest, I would feel quite weird when I meet this ” breakfast-skipper”. However, there are no such “side-effects” of skipping breakfasts on your weight but one can miss out on some benefits of having a good morning meal which I will discuss in this post.
See many people have this notion in their mind that if they eat their “healthy” breakfast regularly they will start losing weight. So first let me clear this myth, it doesn’t matters whether you eat your breakfast or not to lose weight. No studies have ever proven whether your first morning meal matters in weight loss or not. But still, I would like to recommend to have breakfast due to numerous reasons that I am going to discuss on this post.
Before I get you in the debate of having breakfast or not, I think you should first understand the meaning of breakfast.
Breakfast is made up of 2 words- ‘Break’ which means to stop or interrupt and ‘Fast’ which means to abstain yourself from food. Doesn’t this sound obvious what I am trying to convey here? Although there are other reasons why we should take breakfast but this reason is so obvious- WE EAT OUR MORNING MEAL TO END OUR FAST WHICH LONGED FROM YESTERDAY’S NIGHT TO TODAY’S MORNING!!!!
And the other reasons why I strongly recommend you to not skip your breakfast are-
- OVEREATING LATER – Have you ever noticed that when we have skipped our breakfast, either intentionally or unintentionally, we tend to eat much more in our lunch time to cover our “Morning” calories, but most of the times we tend to do overeating. Although note that skipping your morning food doesn’t automatically make you to overeat later. It’s just an observation.
- TO ENERGIZE YOURSELVES– Who doesn’t want that extra energy to light up our day or for that morning jog. But you have to also eat the right food for that energy. The foods which contain carbs, good fats and fibre will help you help you with that like banana, oats, apple etc.
- IMPROVED MENTAL PERFORMANCE– Have you ever felt being confused or lazy or unable to focus in the morning when you have skipped breakfast? Well how will our brain work if you deny it of its fuel, that is glucose. So in order to prevent such condition, you have to lubricate those gears of brain with the glucose which will come by consuming food only.
- DECREASED RISK OF DISEASES– When we skip our morning meal for a continued period of time, we are actually increasing our chances only for suffering with type-2 diabetes. Many prestigious studies and surveys have shown such trend.
